A Stay at Atlantis, Nassau, Bahamas

A Stay at Atlantis is a blend of tropical beauty, rich history, and luxurious experiences. On our recent trip, we stayed at The Royal at Atlantis. While the cost was steep, the incredible food and unique activities made it a trip to remember. Next time, though, we’ll be stopping at a grocery store for sodas and snacks—resort prices add up quickly!

Getting Around

A big shoutout to Roosevelt at Simon’s Transportation—He was on time, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable about the island. Roosevelt made getting around Nassau smooth and stress-free, sharing great insights along the way. Highly recommend!

Culinary Highlights

Food was one of the standout aspects of our trip. We had some truly memorable meals:

Fish by José Andrés – This was hands down the best dining experience. The chicken and crab cakes were phenomenal, and the deconstructed key lime pie was one of the best desserts we’ve ever had.

Chop Stix – A great spot for Asian cuisine. The dim sum and fried rice were delicious, with fresh flavors and perfect seasoning.

Perch – Breakfast here was excellent, offering a variety of tasty options to start the day right but it’s rather pricy.

Silan – Dinner here was disappointing. Everything was over seasoned and over priced.

Murray’s Deli – This is a great option to grab a quick breakfast. It’s also one of the only places we found Coke Zero (diet coke is everywhere).

Shake Shack – Another great quick service option for breakfast or lunch. They also have a special menu with a few items only available in the Bahamas.

Exploring Nassau

We wanted to get out of the resort and explore, so we booked an ATV & Pig Beach tour. While the ride itself was fun, the experience felt disorganized, with almost no time at the stops. The included lunch? A single chicken leg and a tiny scoop of rice—not exactly satisfying after an active excursion.

The boat trip to Pig Beach was another adventure. Instead of a speedboat, we ended up on a floating tiki bar, which—while cute—was totally impractical. A 30-minute ride turned into a two-hour journey thanks to choppy waves and an underpowered 4 stroke motor. The pigs were adorable, but the beach on Athol Island was rocky and unkempt. The experience was further tainted by the music blaring from the speakers of the children running the show.

Some of the best moments came from exploring Nassau’s history and natural beauty:

• John Watling’s Distillery – The tour was interesting, but the real star was the piña colada—one of the best we’ve ever had!

• The Caves – We ventured inside and saw bats hanging from the ceiling, adding a bit of thrill to the experience.

• Junkanoo Beach & Queen’s Staircase – Both are must-see landmarks that give you a glimpse into Nassau’s history and local culture.

Atlantis Attractions

Back at Atlantis, we took full advantage of the resort’s offerings:

The Water Park – A total blast! We especially loved the Rapids River and the tube slide that goes through a shark tank—such a cool experience.

Animal Exhibits – We spent time exploring the marine habitats and can’t wait to come back for paddleboarding with dolphins and reef snorkeling next time.

Joker’s Wild Comedy Club – We caught a great show here, definitely worth checking out!

Mini Golf – We considered it, but at $41 per person, it felt like a ripoff.

Final Thoughts

Next time, we’ll be more strategic about excursions and snacks, but overall, it was an unforgettable trip. Whether you’re a foodie, thrill-seeker, or beach lover, Nassau has something for everyone—just be prepared for a little island-time chaos along the way!
