Welcome aboard! Join us as we take you through the incredible experiences of our recent 24 hours in Rome and the inaugural sailing of the Sun Princess cruise ship.
Exploring Rome:
Upon our arrival in the Eternal City, we were immediately captivated by its timeless allure. From the grandeur of the Colosseum to the awe-inspiring Vatican City, Rome greeted us with a rich tapestry of history and culture. Our home base, the beautiful and conveniently located Hotel Portoghesi, provided the perfect launching pad for our adventures.
Savoring Roman Delights:
One cannot visit Rome without indulging in its culinary delights. We made a beeline for Ancient Pizzicheria Ruggeri, nestled alongside the Campo De’Fiori street market, where we sampled delectable cheeses unlike anything we’d tasted in the US. Energized, we set out to explore the city’s iconic landmarks, from the bustling Piazza Navona to the majestic Trevi Fountain.
A stop at Castel Sant’ Angelo rewarded us with panoramic views of Rome and the Vatican. No culinary journey through Rome is complete without savoring the creamy perfection of Italian gelato. At Giolitti, a renowned Gelateria that has been serving frozen treats since 1900, we delighted in flavors ranging from classic pistachio to indulgent Baileys, each spoonful a heavenly experience.
Setting Sail on the Sun Princess:
After immersing ourselves in the sights and flavors of Rome, it was time to embark on the next chapter of our adventure. After a delicious chocolate ricotta cake breakfast from Pasticceria Boccione in the Jewish Ghetto (closed Saturdays), a quick 45-minute ride with Blacklane brought us to the cruise port, where the Sun Princess awaited. Stepping on board, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality by the attentive cruise staff. The ship was a marvel of elegance and sophistication, offering luxurious amenities and sweeping ocean vistas.
Exploring the Sun Princess:
Once settled into our cabin, we wasted no time in exploring every corner of this floating paradise. From the opulent dining venues to the relaxing spa facilities, there was something for everyone aboard the Sun Princess. We were thrilled to be invited to participate in a promotional video showcasing the ship, an unexpected highlight of our voyage!
